St. Petersburg from a Helicopter

"You're doing WHAT?!" That was my mom's reaction when I informed her that some friends and I were taking a helicopter tour of St. Petersburg. I tried to convince her that the Russians make some of the best helicopters in the world, but she wouldn't stop worrying until I called her that night to tell her we hadn't crashed into the Neva. Anyways, it was definitely an awesome way to see the city.

Our helicopter, located on the grounds of the Peter & Paul Fortress.

A view of the Winter Palace. St. Isaac's Cathedral is to the left.

Another view of the Winter Palace, Palace Square, and the Alexander Column.

St. Isaac's Cathedral, Decembrists' Square, and the Bronze Horseman.

The Neva River and the Gulf of Finland. In the center is Kirov Stadium.

Peter & Paul Fortress. At the top is the Artillery Museum, my personal favorite.

The famous Naval Cruiser "Aurora".

A general view, with the Gulf of Finland in the background.

In Russia, if you pay them enough money they let you fly the chopper. Just kidding...after we landed, the crew members were nice enough to let us sit in the cockpit and take pictures. Here is myself.
